You may have seen this as a feature on your TV / Media player or Network storage device. What does DLNA mean?
Literally it means Digital Living Network Alliance and it is supposed to make all our media sharing easier.
The DLNA certification you see on many devices means that the device can share or play media that resides on other DLNA certified devices.
The most common of those being Windows 7 and Windows Media Player 11 (and above).
In the Windows Media Player it can be enabled by turning on the stream to other devices.

Once the service is enabled in Windows your DLNA devices will automatically list the servers. It's a simple matter of opening the connection to the server by clicking on it and navigating to your media.

The second option “Allow remote control of my Player…” will allow other windows 7 PC to push content to this PC.  Conversely this PC will be able to push media to other compatible devices.
